Principal’s Message

Te Ao Maori Camp 2023

In week 6 we took 28 tamariki to camp. This camp was different to our other camps, where it was more about experiences then doing activities.

We left on Tuesday and drove up to Moria Marae in Whirinaki. This was our home base for 3 nights. We were traditionally welcomed by the elders of the marae.

On Wednesday we travelled to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where we had a 3 hr tour and cultural show. We then took the car ferry to Russell and had a walk around to see the Pompallier Mission House and Christ’s Church (Oldest Church in NZ)

On Thursday we took a tour bus up to Cape Reinga and 90 Mile Beach, where we also did sand boarding.

Friday we were headed home with a couple of stops along the way. We went to Footprints of Kupe for a 5D experience of the Kupe myth  and his arrival to Hokianga Harbour. We then stopped at Tane Mahuta before traveling back to Auckland.

Thank you to Mr Tyrell, Mrs Sullings and Mr Sean for making this an experience to remember for all of our children.

We look forward to our next Camp in November 2024.
