Principal’s Message

Over the past 3 weeks our tamariki have been part of some amazing activities.

Kahui Ako Samoan Speech Competition (Yr 5 & 6)

We had 3 tamariki participate in this event. The 3 students had to be recorded saying a speech on the Topic of ‘My Identity’ for 2 minutes in Samoan.

Congratulations to Joanne, Tuvale and Tiare for their amazing efforts.

All three students placed in the top 5 of our Kahui Ako (14 Inner City Catholic Primary Schools)

After School Netball

Over the last 3 weeks our three netball teams have started their netball season. This is the first time in 10 years that CTK has entered in 3 teams across the different age groups.

All 3 teams have had the highs of winning and the lows of losing but their teamwork and skills keeps growing each week.

EPro 8 Challenge

The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition.
Every year over 25,000 students throughout New Zealand take part.
Students participate in a series of events: firstly within their school and then inter-school.
These events are designed to promote science, engineering and problem solving.
This year, 6 Yr 5 & 6 teams had the choice to build a dunking machine, a certificate giver or a water well. The teams all did amazing with some fantastic designs and thinking over the 2 hour challenge.
Our within school winners were Xarnder, Fai, Ambarish and Tiare. Congratulations!
We will be sending two teams to the inter-school competition in August. These students were chosen on their thinking and design ability.
The following 8 students will represent CTK next Term.

Xarnder, Fai, Ambarish, Tiare, Joanne, Marianna, Carvin & Titan – Congratulations and best wishes.

Schooldocs

Our school has been working with SchoolDocs to create a website for our policies and procedures. We are excited to announce that the site is live and available to our school community.

The school works on a subscription basis with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies, which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, and the school supplies specific information such as our charter, and procedures for behaviour management, reporting to parents, etc.

SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, significant events, reviews/requests from schools, and regular reviewing from the SchoolDocs team.

Our Board has the opportunity to view changes/additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise you when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.

We invite you to visit the site at https://ctk.schooldocs.co.nz (note that there’s no “www.”).

Our username is “ctk” and password “owairaka“.
