Joyful Hope
I am full of hope in God who has been so good to us all. Mary MacKillop 1898
Mary Mackillop radiated compassion, peace, courage, deep love and the beauty of her God. For her God was a ‘good God’ – a God ‘who will take care of us all.’
I trust in the goodness of God. Mary MacKillop
‘Christ chose you in his tender love to be stewards of his grace.’ (1Peter 4:10) One of the greatest things we can do is to reflect on and actually look for ways to share goodness and kindness with others, as stewards of his grace.
‘It doesn’t take much to be missionaries, because goodness can always be shared.’ (Pope Francis, Christus Vivit 239) Whenever we share goodness, whenever we decide to be kind and forgiving, gentle and patient, we are sharing the goodness of God. We are being ‘stewards of God’s grace’. We are being ‘kindly lights’.
Find happiness in making others happy. Mary MacKillop 1889
God of all faithfulness and love,
bless us abundantly with your joy,
bless us with laughter and with your peace.
May we be a blessing to all with whom we live and work.
Amen
From Love’s fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
May we be people of joy and full of hope.
Curriculum
Wrapping up the 2022 year. This year has come by so fast. As the year has progressed, so has the results and data progressed throughout the school year. There are some very pleasing results across our Reading, Writing and Mathematics across the school in term 4.
So much has happened across the school throughout 2022. We have had Specialisation rotations, Science in a Van, Junky Monkeys, Life Education, various language weeks and dress up mufti days, Matariki breakfast, school disco, our trip to St Patrick’s Cathedral, adopting the local Valonia Park to care for, V8 cars, surfing, a school fair, camp and of course, swimming. The list can go on and on. This highlights the opportunities of rich learning experiences our amazing teachers and support staff have journeyed through and learned together with all our students this year.
What to look forward to for term 1, 2023
More learning opportunities that will reflect our curriculum focus around the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories. We will focus on questions like “What is our own school history and foundation?” “Nȱ hea koe? Where are you from?” This will include a focus on whakapapa and identity of students, staff and our community through trips such as to our four House maunga (mountains) and to Alberton Heritage New Zealand in Mt Albert. Throughout 2023 we have more exciting plans for rich learning experiences for our tamariki at CTK. We will continue to update our learning opportunities throughout the new year in our school newsletters.
We want to wish you all a very safe and wonderful Christmas and New Year celebrations with your families and loved ones. Thank you for always supporting the learning of your child/children and the curriculum coverage across a range of experiences.
