Principal’s Message
This week I would like to say a huge thank you to the CTK families that put in an amazing effort during the working bee. We were able to build most of the new sandpit area, clear the bank and trim back the fence line hedges.
Our families were joined by 12 boys from St Paul’s College and some of their parents. This meant that all these jobs could be completed in just the one day. Their efforts are greatly appriciated as well.

Curriculum
There is fantastic learning ahead for our CTK school
Our second week of Magic Maths went well with 39 students attending. Our students are enjoying the challenges of trying to solve maths concepts they find tricky. Thank you to Mr Lelo who also popped in to lend a helping hand.
Our senior APPA (Auckland Primary Principals’ Association) Choral choir, of about 26 students, led by our amazing Judith Fullerton, are preparing for what will be an unforgettable event involving hundreds of students across many Auckland schools. This event will be on Wednesday 3rd November. There will be up to four rehearsals leading up to the event across different schools. The first of which is next Wednesday 26th May at St Mary’s Ellerslie. Thank you to all the parent consent forms that have already been returned for the first rehearsal.
Next week, as part of our Health & PE curriculum this term we have Life Education visiting our school from Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th May. There will be a focus on resilience as part of the programme. This is our overarching focus for Term 2.
An event to watch out for on Friday 4th June. To end Samoan Language week, we have a culturally responsive opportunity for our students to experience an umu process cooked at our CTK school. There is a growing interest from our Samoan community to share their expertise, knowledge and experience of how an umu brings people together. This rich contextual cultural experience will be such an amazing opportunity for our wider community and all of CTK school to taste and share some traditional Samoan food. A great way to end week 5!
