“Good will come to those who are generous”
Last week we saw the generousity of our CTK family by raising 475 canned food items for The St Vincent de Paul Society. This averages to almost 5 cans per child at our school.
CTK joined ten other primary schools and colleges to collect for Cans for Christmas. These schools collected 9,900 canned items. The cans will now be used in food parcels to help families struggling after the lockdowns and over the Christmas period. Cans for Christmas still has 39 schools to collect from and are aiming for a toal of 30,000 cans which will help over two thousand families.

Teacher Only Day
A Teacher Only Day is scheduled for Friday 25th September. Children do not attend school as this day is for the staff and our Board to come together to plan for 2021. Planning includes the curriculum, projects, trips, camp and many other programmes that will benefit our students.
September/October School Holidays
School holidays are Monday 28th September – Sunday 11th September with the first day of Term 4 starting Monday 12th October.
We will not be running a school holiday programme due to the lack of interest.
Stay safe and well.
Below is some assessment data taken just before the last lockdown.
Overall tracking for the percentage of students At or Above Curriculum Level:
Reading 84.9% – Annual target is 85%
Writing 80.2% – Annual target is 85%
Maths 77.4% – Annual target is 85%
From this data teachers have been able to plan and implement programmes in their classes to continue to increase student achievement.
In conjuction with Kahui Ako Inner City Catholic Community we have participated in PAT Science testing. This test is for Year 4-8 students only (53 students).
2019 = 74% At or Above
2020 = 85% At or Above
I thank the teachers for the amazing work that they do to continue helping our children to gain higher excellence in their academics.
From Feburary 2021 CTK will no longer be connected to the Ako Hiko Digital Cluster. This means small changes will be made.
1 – Our Year 3 – 6 students will be in 1-1 Digital Classes.
2 – Chromebooks will have to be sourced by the families (CTK will no longer sell chromebooks). Devices can be purchased from places such as PB Tech, Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman and The Warehouse Stationary. Refer to the links below.
We do ask that if you are purchasing a new device be sure it is a chromebook as this will match the system we run in school.
If you have any questions please contact the school.

If children are unwell we ask that you keep them at home until they have fully recovered.
Please inform Mr Hadnett or the Office if your child/children are COVID-19 tested and again with your result. This information is needed for contact tracing.
Below are the usual symtoms of COVID-19.
We are currently taking enrolments for 2021 across all year levels.
Please remember we will no longer accept enrolments for Yr 7 and 8.
The best advertising for our school is our parents. Please spread the the word on how great our school is.
Over the past two weeks CTK has celebrated Te Reo and Tongan Language Weeks. It has been great to see all the students and staff getting involved. Thank you to Mrs Heimuli for the wonderful work she has put in to make these two weeks so successful.
Over the last week I have had to deal with two incidents involving online activity that occured during the last lockdown period. These two incidents involved the following two apps/websites, Discord and Tik Tok.
Both incidents involve our students being on apps/websites that are age restricted. These restrictions are in place for your child/childrens saftey. Many of these apps/websites allow your child to view inappropriate content or be in communication with unfriendly people.
Below is an image of the different age restrictions for a few current social media apps/websites that are avaiable. As you can see all are rated R13+ which means all our students should not be on these apps/websites.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children safe.
