Christ the King School

Principal's Message

Kia Ora and welcome to both old and new friends to Christ the King School website.  We are a Catholic Integrated  State School that provides quality education in the Catholic tradition for Years 1-6 boys and girls, and Years 7-8 girls.  We are also a Parish School, which enjoys the benefits and blessings of working closely with the Parish of Christ the King Church in Owairaka.

As a Catholic School our spiritual values are integrated into all aspects of the school culture.  There are explicit signs of this in our daily prayers, Religious Education programmes and shared liturgies with the Christ the King Parish.  The Catholic character underpins our concept-based curriculum design and influences all relationships within the school community.

Every child who comes into Christ the King School is valued and nurtured.  We have high expectations for academic achievement whilst also giving attention to the spiritual, social, and physical needs of our students.  Our teachers are all experienced and committed to each child reaching his or her potential and they are ably assisted by a team of dedicated support staff.  Our high expectations of those working with children are facilitated by high professional support from our Board of Trustees.

We know that the family has an enormous effect on a child's educational success and we value strong links with the parents and whanau of our  students.  We believe in regular and open communication between home and school and encourage families to talk regularly with their child's teacher.  I personally welcome any comments or queries from all current and prospective families of the school.

Christ the King, therefore, is a special place that offers excellence in teaching and learning within the context of Catholic beliefs and values.  It is a school that works in partnership with parents and families to ensure the well-being and achievement of every child.
